Key facts
- Our accessible units have a ground-level door, room to turn a wheelchair, and grab bars on both sides.
- Where accessible portable toilets are required, the 2010 ADA Standards §213.2 call for at least 5% per cluster, minimum one.
- A race organizer in our log planned 12 standard and 2 accessible units: one accessible unit at each cluster.
- Accessible units also help older guests, parents with toddlers and anyone using a walker.
How many accessible porta potties does my event need?
Use at least 5% of the units in each cluster, rounded up, and never fewer than one. Under the 2010 ADA Standards §213.2, a 12-unit cluster needs one accessible unit and a 21-unit cluster needs two. Each separate restroom location — a start line, an aid station, a vendor row — counts as its own cluster.
| Units in cluster | Accessible units (minimum) |
|---|---|
| 1–20 | 1 |
| 21–40 | 2 |
| 41–60 | 3 |
| 61–80 | 4 |
What makes a unit wheelchair-accessible?
A ground-level entry with no step, a door wide enough for a wheelchair, an interior about 60 inches across so a wheelchair can turn, grab bars beside the seat and a lower seat height. Set it on firm, level ground — not on soft red clay or a slope — with a clear path from the parking area.

- Path — firm, level and clear to the door.
- Door — opens fully at ground level.
- Turning space — room for a wheelchair inside.
- Grab bars — solid on both sides.
- Placement — beside the main cluster, never off on its own.
Do private parties need an ADA unit?
Only when someone attending needs it. For a family reunion with a grandparent in a wheelchair, one accessible unit beside the standard unit is the kind thing to do. Church events, vendor fairs and races open to the public should plan accessible units from the start.
“I was thinking, based off the number of runners… 12 normal porta-potties, and then two ADA-accessible ones.”

Questions callers asked us
How much is a handicap-accessible porta potty?
A wheelchair-accessible (ADA) porta potty runs about $289–$339 per event in Tyler with delivery and pickup. It has a ground-level door, room to turn a wheelchair inside, and grab bars. Public events should plan at least one per cluster of units.
Do I need a wheelchair-accessible porta potty?
If your event is open to the public, plan at least 5% of units in each cluster as accessible, minimum one, under the 2010 ADA Standards §213.2. For private parties, add one whenever a guest uses a wheelchair or walker. A race organizer in our log planned 12 standard and 2 accessible units — one accessible unit at each restroom cluster.
How many porta potties for a 5K or half marathon?
Plan about 1 unit per 75–100 runners at the start/finish and 1–2 units at each aid station, with at least one accessible unit per cluster. A first-time half-marathon organizer in our log planned 14 units — 12 standard and 2 accessible — with most at the start/finish and a standard plus an accessible unit at the halfway aid station.
How many units for a church vendor fair?
For 50 vendors and a few hundred shoppers over 4–6 hours, plan 2–3 standard units and one hand-washing station near any food. A church in our log planned “maybe one, possibly two” units and a hand-washing station for its first vendor event. Book the Friday before, since we deliver ahead of Saturday events.
Where should the porta potty go?
Pick a flat, firm spot the truck can reach within about 10 feet, on your property and away from low wires and parked cars. Callers chose “the side of our house,” “next to the shipping container, door side,” and “wherever I have a trash can sitting in my yard.” All three are good choices. Text us a photo with an arrow.
Can I change my delivery date after I book?
Yes — date changes are free any time before the truck leaves the yard. Call or reply to your quote text. Your price stays the same unless you move into a holiday weekend that is already fully booked, in which case dispatch tells you before anything changes.
